An opportunity arose to refurbish and redesign a 70’s style derelict villa on a beautiful plot of land in Saint James Barbados and we took up the challenge.
The house and pool have been derelict for some time and had fallen into considerable disrepair. We have reimagined the house with its unusual stone work as a series of indoor outdoor rooms interlinked by shaded courtyards and walkways. Flat strong horizontal planes and a muted palette unite the houses facade against the lush foliage surroundings. An interplay of light and shadow and texture and smooth surfaces animate the the walls and spaces of the house. The plan allows for several families to stay at the house at the same time while maintaining independence and the central living spaces form the core around which each wing revolves .
